The Carryout is a great solution for portable satellite service. We are using it for our 5th wheel RV. Instead of setting up a pole and manually aiming a Dish 500, I connect the 12v cable and the coax cable, set it on the ground in a resonably level spot, and the carryout does the rest. It will only look at 1 satellite at a time, so is really only suited for a single receiver box. We use Dish network, and on initially getting it out of the box, I had to set a dip switch inside the dome for Dish network. It will automatically find the satellites at 110, 119, and 129 locations. This means it is also suited for HD service from Dish network. When changing channels that requires a different satellite, it only takes about 5 seconds to make the switch.
It saves a lot of time in setup, and saves some storage space as well. Works great, and I highly recommend it.

Harman Kardon AVR1600 High Performance, 50W X 7, 7.1-Channel A/V Receiver with Dolby Digital Plus/Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio Decoding (Black) Review

Got this in the mail a couple of weeks ago. It is a very attractive unit, couple of things I don't care for.

1. Can't ever turn off the bright power on light. Apparently some people couldn't remember to turn off the unit when they killed the display, so now I have this bright white light that won't turn off.

2. HDMI passthrough only kinda works. The main reason I bought this thing was to pass HDMI from my various devices through the single source (and for its audio sync capabilities). Unfortunately for me, while my HTPC straight to the tv works like a champ, I only get a black screen for video (audio works fine though...) when passing through this device. From what I can tell this is a common problem with the 1600 (go check out the forum for owners).

3. HK support kinda sucks. Sent an email last week. No reply. Called them during business hours, had to leave a message. So far no help from them.

I have worked around this by just not using the HDMI, buttt...was kinda the whole reason I bought this, now its just like the one i replaced it with, bummer. In the end it looks pretty good and works pretty good, just not as good as they would want you to believe.

**** UPDATE ****
Short update, about one year after purchase I stopped by the Harman Kardon site to see if they were ever going to update this thing to fix my HDMI issues, and lo and behold... they did! There is a product update link on the 1600's support page:

[...]

Support Tab --> Product Updates --> Download the update.

This update is supposed to update a few bugs, and most importantly the HDMI issue of not passing video from random devices (media pc's, game consoles, etc..). I downloaded and installed (you'll need a 400Mb or larger thumb drive ((not sure why cause it was tiny, but that's what it says)) to do the update). The update was straightforward and took less than 5 minutes once you have the thumb in there (front panel usb port).

Anyway....the video now flows through, my media pc can now pass 5.1 (or 7.1) and the video actually looks nicer than when it went straight to my tv (deeper blacks or something, looks good). Harman support is still pretty poor, but the product performs so dang good for what it cost, and looks great doing it. Took this thing from 3 to 5 stars, light is still annoying but I'll let it slide.

So I was in the market for a 32 inch tv and found this Toshiba to be a great value. I 32 inches, having 1080P isn't necessary and worth the extra cash. I also reviewed the 37 RV525R, which is virtually the same set but with 1080P.It's got good blacks, better than everage. Excellent whites, as most LCD'S have. Handles motion very well despite not having 120 refresh rate. Does a good job with 3:2 pulldown, although you have to turn that feature on, which is the cinema mode turned to film. Viewing angle isn't too great, but then again no lcd is. Once you get 14 degrees off-axis you lose 50% of the picture's contrast. Reflections aren't too bad with this Toshiba, so it's ideal for brightly lit room. Color accuracy isn't too bad but there is a green push which the picture menu allows you to correct. The audio is also very good for a little flat panel, except you get a little vibration with certain dialog with the bass turned all the way up. The remote is excellent and is very user friendly. The menu system is very simple and easy to navigate. Overall, this is a great value. Sure, you will get a better tv with either the Samsung or the Sony, but you will pay more for the extra features they come with. Are they worth it to you? It does, however, outperform the LG,Sharp, and the Panny in most areas. At the price you can grab this for it's hard to turn down. Here are calibrated settings for this tv.
. Note: I will keep updating these settings until I feel they are perfect, so keep checking in from time to time.
UPDATED SETTINGS..1/2/10...THESE NEW SETTINGS WILL GIVE YOU MORE POP.

I gave it a four star only because of the speaker vibration during certain dialog and the major color adjustment it needed, but for the money, I could have easily given it a five star.

Mitsubishi WD-82738 82-Inch 1080p 3D DLP HDTV Review

Great picture out of the box using the standard setting with warm white. Using tools I learned about on AVsforum a few years back I was able to calibrate this set to nearly perfect specs. The Advanced user menus made the job very easy and the technology that this set has built into it made it possible to get the calibration almost exactly where the industry specs say it should be. The picture is now stunning, whereas out of the box it was just very good. Go here for more information.

3D Technology Checklist

This product is 3D-related. To help you get a great 3D experience, use our checklist below to ensure that you have everything you need. If you have any questions or want to learn more about 3D, we invite you to visit 3D 101--our center for everything 3D. To get started with 3D, please ensure that you have:

A Display

The first--and most important--item you'll need is a 3D-ready display--whether it be a 3D HDTV, 3D projector, or 3D computer monitor. These displays usually have a higher processing power than older models as they need to display one image for each eye to create a 3D effect.

A Source

While your display is ready for 3D playback, you still need a device to read 3D content (i.e., a movie or a show). This source can be a cable box with a subscription to a 3D channel, a 3D Blu-ray Disc player, or a PlayStation 3.

Content

In order to watch 3D, you will need to get some 3D content. This 3D content will come from the source mentioned above in the form of a 3D program, movie, or game. Please ensure that your 3D movies are in the Blu-ray 3D format, as this new format will provide the best 3D experience.

3D Glasses

All 3D HDTVs on the market require Active Shutter glasses to create the 3D effect. You will need to buy one pair of glasses for each viewer. Also make sure that the Active Shutter glasses you buy are compatible with your display--for example, buy the glasses from the same brand as your 3D HDTV.

HDMI Cable

To connect your source (such as a 3D Blu-ray Disc player) to your display, you'll need a hgh-speed HDMI cable. Cables with this designation--with bandwidth speeds up to 10.2 Gbps (gigabits per second)--will be able to carry the 3D signal without any loss of quality. If you want to get more information about 3D, shop our 3D products, watch videos, or interact with other customers, visit 3D 101, our customer center about everything 3D.

Samsung HPR4252 42-Inch High Definition Plasma TV With Integrated ATSC/Digital Cable Ready Tuner Review

After several years of watching our old Sony 27" TV deteriorate, we decided take a risk and spend what seemed like an outrageous sum to buy this TV.It was definitely the way to go -- great value for the money and it is cool that we are ready whenever the cable/braodcast world goes HD.The color is brilliant, features are extensive (a little confusing at first) -- sound is good even when not using our 5.1 DTS.There is a very explicit warning about "burn-in" from channel logos, tickers, freeze-frame images, etc. but I think (hope) this is easily managed by avoiding such images and adjusting picture size. Also be aware that the picture-in -picture (PIP) is limited in the sense that the TV itself has only one tuner -- but a second source and tuner (like a VCR) should work.We have enjoyed many favorite movies and some new ones too since getting this TV three weeks ago.You will see detail you didn't know existed and discover that those beautiful movie stars actually have complexion problems like the rest of us.We used "The Wizard of Oz" as the benchmark to evaluate this TV, because is is so familiar -- and the richness of this 66-year old classic is nothing short of astounding. Also -- unlike another reviewer reported, our picture needed no adjustment, and the settings you can adjust we did not find difficult to use.A negative: when the delivery folks arrived they did not set up the TV, as promised in the Amazon description. This was the most unnerving aspect of the whole transaction but everything turned out fine.If you love movies this is a terrific TV.

Other adjustable video features include color tone, picture mode, aspect ratio, and sound mode.
Other features include a fanless cooling design for low noise operation, VESA wall mount compatibility, and discrete IR codes for use with a macro/programmable remote for creating your own functions. I purchased this tv this week for $201, tax included, for a spare bedroom.I previously purchased two RCA HD televisions, so I can say that the Sceptre 19-inch TV is worth the price. It's a good bargain. The sound and picture are okay.It seemed loud enough and looked good enough.I'm not that particular, but I know when these things aren't great. It's not full-on HD, but consider the price. The menu is pretty straightforward.Setup was ridiculously easy.It took 5 minutes. It has basic features like automatically trying to find channels in HD, a sleep timer, picture presets, to name a few.The only drawback that I can see so far is that there isn't a clock. But I can live with it.After all it wasn't that expensive.
